Terry Alan Tavares, age 78, died at his home in Big Bear, on January 18, 2022. He was born to Freddie & Tamar Tavares, in Hollywood California on February 13, 1943.
Terry is survived by his wife, Linda Guy-Tavares, Son, Gregg Tavares, Daughter, Tami Tavares Nichols and Grandsons, Rick Hurd and Gene Nichols.
Terry and his older brother, Fred, grew up chiefly in Anaheim California where Terry participated in Jazz Band, Marching Band and various athletic programs. After graduating from Anaheim High School in 1960, he earned an Associate’s Degree from Fullerton Junior College in 1962. That degree, lead him to a drafting and engineering career. He and his wife Linda, moved to Everett Washington where he continued his engineering career and interest in music. Upon retirement he spent more time playing his guitar in small venues and senior communities.
Terry had a longtime dream of living in Big Bear and he and his wife decided to make that move in 2020. After moving to Big Bear, he continued his membership with the local Elk’s Club #1787, where the comradery of the lodge was enjoyed.
Terry’s Rosary and Mass was held at St Joseph Catholic Church in Big Bear, and he will be interred at a Family Burial Site, with his parents, in Honolulu Hawaii.
