Steven Padilla, 70, passed away September 22, 2023, at his home in Sugarloaf, CA.
He was born in East Los Angeles December 31, 1952, the youngest child of Henry ”Hank” and Dolores ”Dody” Padilla. Raised in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles, he cultivated a love for where he was from; a list of his favorite places in L.A. easily known to anyone who knew him. He grew up very close with his parents, siblings, and lots of extended family.
He was a Boy Scout. There were many trips with the Boy Scouts as well as family camping trips that were beloved childhood memories, he carried with him.
Steven attended Roosevelt High School and graduated in 1971.
In 1973, he met and married Eleanor Jimenez and they had 3 children. Although the union as a couple ended in divorce, Steve and Eleanor maintained a lifelong closeness and were simply family.
He loved music, playing the guitar, and singing. He introduced this passion to his children, which they all will carry forever. He loved movies and Hollywood, often standing in long lines for the newest release (although he hated waiting in lines).
Disneyland was a lifelong fixture for Steven, going with his parents and siblings, then with his own children, and then his grandson. He developed many friendships there and Disney, as he said, was ”his happy place”.
Steven was also extremely headstrong and obstinate. This could be an exasperation for anyone.who knew him, although when he was on your side, you knew it. He also loved his family very much and was usually seen at family parties, with camera in hand. He never enjoyed being photographed himself, but loved to record all of the special moments of his family and friends.
He moved to "the cabin" in the late 90s and had great affinity for being a Big Bear resident.
Steven is survived by his mother, Dolores Padilla; brother, Henry and sister, Dorothy; his three children including daughter, Valerie and son, Jonathan; grandson, Jason; his ex-wife-but-family-for-life, Eleanor; niece, Lauren (Adam) Juarez and nephew, Ryan Padilla, and two little great--nieces, Maya and Ava. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
We know his father, Henry Padilla was there to meet his son as he left us, along with so many who have passed before him. May this knowledge bring us comfort at this time, but Steven Padilla will be loved and missed forever.
My Father did not wish to have a formal service.
Instead, you are warmly invited to celebrate with us at:
