Jose Negrete Obituary

Jose Carmen “Gordo” Negrete passed away on October 1st, 2021 after being diagnosed with stage four cancer.

Jose Negrete was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on April 4th, 1973. He moved to the United States when he was 14 years old, lived in Texas for two years, and lived in Big Bear for the remainder of his life.

Jose was the loving son of Maria Antonia Silva Magaña and the late Jose Carmen Negrete Morales. He married Nelly Rojas in 2000 and together, they had two beautiful daughters, Laysa in 2001 and Emely in 2006.

Jose is survived by his mother, Antonia, his two daughters, Laysa and Emely, his three brothers, Jorge, Socorro, Antonio and his four sisters Hilda, Lucy, Ana and Adriana.

He is also survived by his twenty four nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Carmen was a person of many trades. He worked  many jobs throughout his life but his passion was auto mechanics.

He was the man you would call when you needed an oil change or your transmission checked.

When Carmen wasn’t working on cars, he was visiting family and friends or causing ruckus around town. He was the life of the party wherever he went and his presence was immediately known when he arrived.

Jose was loud and obnoxious but in the most loving way. He loved to joke around with his closest family and friends and had a nickname for almost everyone in his life.

Since his passing, his family has gathered to reminisce on all of the memories he has left behind. His free spirit will be truly missed and most definitely never forgotten.

His family now strives to live every day like Gordo did; he didn’t take life too seriously and lived every day like it was his last.

May we give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for every day he allows us to live.

The Negrete Family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
