Harry Edward Venable was the first child born in the New Year January 1, 1944 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois to parents Ruth (Wilson) and Sandy Harrison Venable. He was the eldest son of six siblings, three brothers and three sisters. He was a loyal son and brother.
In 1962, Harry joined the U.S. Army and served 5 years as a Specialist E4 skilled in Transportation Supply & Logistics, and was a driver for military officers, VIP’s and Public Officials. Harry received his degree from Compton College in 1974 with studies in Police Science. Harry was trained as a Private Investigator in 1974, then joined partnership with Arthur & Venable Investigations, Inc. Later, he started Venable Detective Agency as a licensed Private Investigator. During the years, he also contracted work with Haynes Investigations, AMKO Investigations, Basler, Garcia & Gifford, Inc., Special Agent Unit for the City of Los Angeles, and SuperEye Investigations. Harry was often requested to train other private investigators in the profession. He was admired by his peers as a Private Investigator for over 40 years.
Harry met Lorita in 1970 during the political campaign of her late-brother, (fmr) Honorable City Councilman Floyd James. They became best-friends and later were married on August 4, 1995 during Lorita’s annual Alexander-Boozer Family Reunion (where he turned his wife into Cinderella). Harry and Lorita raised their granddaughters India and China and loved taking them to their annual vacation spots in Palm Springs for “Spa-Days” and Big Bear Lake for “Snow-Days.”
Harry was called home on February 8, 2019. He was a humble gentleman, good listener, awesome cook, and foremost a loving family man. Harry believed in God, never had a disparaging comment about anybody, and lived his life taking care of others.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Sandy Venable, sisters Miriam Jones, and Francis Venable. He is survived by his loving wife Lorita Venable, his children Rosalind Venable, Kim Venable, Euphemia (David) Zaremba, Rachel Garcia, and his grandchildren India Garcia and China Garcia, his brothers William (Melinda) Jones, David (Kathy) Jones, Floyd Jones, and his sister Christine Stewart, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
