George Leonard Piccardi passed away on February 12, 2022, at the age of 85. He was born August 15, 1936, in Boston, MA. He was larger than life and loved his church, music, theatre, and his family. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pomona, CA, for over 30 years. He was an instrumental member of the St. Paul’s Player’s Group, directing and producing many critically acclaimed productions including Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, and Sound of Music. He also sang in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Choir. In 1994, he and his wife, Sandra, moved to Big Bear, CA, where he became an active member of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church and the Big Bear Kiwanis Club. He brought his love of the theatre to the mountain and was instrumental in the formation of C.A.T.S. (Community Arts Theater Society) in the early 90’s. They put on hundreds of productions at the Big Bear Performing Arts Center.
George was always looking for an opportunity to give back and would give you the shirt off his back. He volunteered for many community service projects in the Big Bear Valley, including putting together Thanksgiving food baskets for those in need. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Piccardi, son, George Piccardi Jr., daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Rob Wishner, and granddaughters, Meghan and Hayley Wishner. We wish him peace on his final journey. Our hearts are sad, but we know he is now directing on the biggest stage of all! We love you dad!
