Fred Eugene Haviland passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 31, 2017 at Big Bear Community Hospital's Skilled Nursing Facility. He was 98 years old. He is survived by his Daughter Betty Haviland, a long time resident of Big Bear.
Fred was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 5, 1919. He grew up in Rock Springs, Wyoming and ultimately moved to Roseville, CA where he lived for many years. He moved to Big Bear in October, 2015.
Fred was an amazing father and friend who was loved by all who knew him. His infectious smile endeared him to everyone he met. An avid history buff and student of politics and engaged everyone who would listen in lively dialogue. He was active in many service and charitable organizations and his church, Oak Avenue Church in Orangevale, California.
Fred lived a long and happy full life. He will be greatly missed by his daughter and friends. He is with God now and frolicking with his beloved dog Tory. We love you.
A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion Post 584 in Big Bear Lake at a later date to be determined.
