Eric Rogers Obituary

Left us too soon, but what if he never came?

On Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, we lost a brother, husband, father, and friend. Eric Scott Rogers of Big Bear City, California
passed away in his childhood home in Big Bear. He was 54. Eric will be remembered for his infectious, quick smile,
a big heart and his huge “ground lifting” hugs. Everyone who knew Eric- simply loved him. He was BIG, handsome, kind,
and would do anything for anyone. This combination allowed him to make friends wherever he went and endeared them to him.
Whether it be building, fixing, or simply listening, he was always willing to help another person and make them feel safe.
Eric was brought into this world on July 7th, 1970, and his parents, Ron and Judy Rogers, never knew what hit them.
The family would move to Big Bear not long after his birth, so this was the only place he knew as home.
He hit the ground running and removed the words “slow down” from his vocabulary at an early age. Opposite his older brother, Kevin.
His earliest sport was skiing at age 4 and he soon decided making turns was overrated. It was faster to just go straight down the mountain.
As Eric got older, it was clear this mindset would be his guiding star. In High school, Eric would play basketball and football and would graduate in 1988.
Outside of school, he hiked mountains with his Boy Scout troop, skied, rode motorcycles, and then found the water.
Fast boats, jet skis, and water skiing became one of his loves in life. Eric would marry and then divorce, but ultimately found the love of his life,
Jody Rogers in 1995, married in September of 1997. They lived in San Diego for a time where they adopted twins (a girl and boy) – Sasha and Pierce.
Jody’s job took them to Texas for a while, but they ultimately found their way back to California. Along the way, Eric had an ongoing
battle with alcoholism that would, unfortunately, lead to his tragic passing. Eric follows his parents in death and is survived by his brother,
wife, kids, extended family, and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed with no way to replace who he was to each of us,
the hole he will leave in our hearts will never be filled.
Rest in Peace Eric. AKA “Rawg”
