Dell William Henderson passed away on 9/1/15 in Big Bear City, California. Dell was born in Huntington Park, California on 11/16/1937. He was the son of James William Henderson and Helen Vogt. Dell went on to join the Navy active duty 1958- 1963. LTJG Henderson was assigned to Patrol Squadron 28 home based in Hawaii. During his tour in the squadron he became a designated Patrol Plane Commander in the P-2V5 aircraft. The squadron deployed to Japan in 1961 for six months, where he and Judy were married. Upon completing his tour in the squadron in 1963, Dell was honorably discharged. Dell joined United Airlines in January 1964 and held a Flight Instructor license, Commercial Pilot license, and Flight Engineer license by 1968 qualifying on DC-6, DC-7, DC-8, B720, B707, and eventually becoming Captain. Dell held a Transport Pilot license qualified to fly B-737, B-747, B747-4, DC-8, and LR-JET, and commercial privileges of single engine land rotorcraft – helicopter. Dell leaves behind his cousins Helen and Beverly, his lifelong friends, the three musketeers (Mo, Blanca, Robin) and his dog Flyer. Dell we miss you already, we know you’re happy and reunited with Judy, family and your many animals.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 4, 2015 at the El Monte Airport, 4233 N Santa Anita Avenue, El Monte, California 91731 in the Pilots Lounge at 10:00 am.
